Franciacorta

Looking for a premium sparkling wine from Italy? Then go for Franciacorta. This sparkling wine from Lombardy can certainly compete with Champagne in terms of quality. And it’s no surprise, given how strict the production rules are:

• Franciacorta comes from the eponymous region in Lombardy, on the south bank of Lago d’Iseo.

• It is made from the Chardonnay, Pinot nero and Pinot bianco grape varieties.
• Secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle and not in a tank, as is the case with Prosecco.
• Standard Franciacorta can be put on the market after a minimum of 18 months, while the Riserva versions must spend 60 months on the lees.

Tip:
Pair Franciacorta with a fine, creamy risotto. What a treat!
