Update NowPrunotto is an illustrious name. Founded in 1904 as a co-operative winery in Alba, Piedmont, Alfredo Prunotto transformed the feeble winery into a flagship Langhe winery in the 1920s. From 1956, the new owners Beppe and Tino Colla also focussed uncompromisingly on quality; with their Poderi Colla, they are still one of the region’s absolutely secure values today. In 1989, the collaboration with the famous Tuscan wine dynasty Antinori began, which finally bought Prunotto in 1994.
Today, the estate comprises around 65 hectares of vines in the very best locations. The Florentine winegrowing family is adept at respectfully preserving the tradition of the region as well as the history and style of the house while still using state-of-the-art cellar technology. The wines are classically elegant and full of pedigree – always characterised by their historic terroirs.
