Update NowFrom a distance, they look like a staircase: the terraced vineyards of Poggio Scalette, which climb up the hill of Ruffoli. This is the realm of Vittorio Fiore. He is in fact a «flying winemaker», sought after throughout Italy. But don’t we all need a break now and then? It is also understandable that such a talented winemaker would want to press his own wine alongside his other commissions. So Vittorio Fiore created his own estate in Tuscany, starting in 1991. It comprises not only 15 hectares of vines, but also 25 hectares of olive orchards, farmland and forest.
His son Jurij works in the cellar now. His top Merlot Piantonaia is a masterpiece that you can lay down and forget all about. Take it out a few years later and look forward to an enjoyable surprise ...
