Myths from the world of wine
Putting a spoon in a bottle of Champagne
Should you really put a spoon in an open bottle of sparkling wine? And is a screw cap better than a cork? We’ve got the answer.
You’ve no doubt heard this one before: If you put a spoon in an open bottle of Champagne, it will stay fizzy. Our response? Nonsense! Sparkling wines only retain their fizz under pressure. So here’s our tip: Pop a pressure stopper on it and stick it in the fridge. And then, of course, finish it off soon!

We also often hear the question, «aren’t screw caps a cheap alternative to corks?» We also have a firm opinion on this matter: absolutely not! Unlike natural cork, screw caps are 100% solid and keep wine fresh for longer. Another advantage is that you don’t have to worry about corked wine.
