Update NowToday we bow before a legend. Bruno Giacosa was an emblem of Italian wine culture. A driving force, an innovator, a tireless man, a role model for so many and yet unrivalled. He entered the wine business at the tender age of 15. Like his father and grandfather before him, he traded in grapes as a «commerciante». But his destiny was wine-making. In the 1960s, together with Angelo Gaja, he showed the world how beguilingly noble and elegant Barbaresco can be. In 1964, he bottled the first single-vineyard Barolo.
Fashions mattered little to him; he always had a mind of his own in everything he did. His finest wines were only available in outstanding years, and that was it – basta. And he never had barrique barrels in his cellar. The old master passed away at the beginning of 2018. His daughter Bruna continues the family legacy. We look back with gratitude on more than 30 years of partnership.
