Update NowSella & Mosca, founded more than a hundred years ago by two visionary Piedmontese, has long been the flagship of Sardinia and, with a vineyard area of more than 500 hectares, is one of the largest contiguous wine estates in Europe. However, its global success is not due to its size, but to the unrivalled quality of its wines.
Sella & Mosca recently became part of the Moretti family holding company from Franciacorta. However, this does not change the policy: Conversion to organic viticulture and great efforts to emphasise the very best terroirs and the old, indigenous varieties even further. The latter naturally include the white Vermentino and the red Cannonau, but also exciting rarities such as the seductively bergamot-scented Torbato, which is today only produced by Sella & Mosca. According to Gambero Rosso, the Sardinian winery is characterised by «impeccable quality, reasonable prices and world market presence».
