Intense ruby red with purple hues. The nose is concentrated and multi-layered. With intense notes of ripe, dark berries. These are complemented by phenolic notes, a pinch of forest floor and warm spices. Dense on the palate, with pithy but finely honed tannins. Plums, wild cherries. A distinct structure, powerful, with generous length. Mediterranean spicy-herbal notes in the finish.

We are proud of our Vallocaia: the best grapes from the oldest vineyards find their way into this Riserva. It is aged for 24 months, partly in tonneaus, partly in 50-hectolitre French oak barrels. A concentrated, multi-layered, distinctive wine.
Recommendations
Whatever it is, it has to be grilled! Then the Vallocaia reveals its Mediterranean spicy-herbal flavour.
Vinification
For this Riserva, we only press the best harvest batches, mainly from our oldest vineyards. After temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the young wine is aged for 24 months, partly in 3 hl tonneaus and partly in 50 hl French oak barrels. Barrel ageing is followed by one year of bottle ageing before the Vallocaia Riserva hits the shelves.
