Tasting notes
Dark colour. Intense nose, with aromas of blackcurrants, cherries and sweet peppers, plus spicy wood notes with a certain astringency. Very bold on the palate, rich in tannins, well-structured and exciting. Great length, character and depth. Still young, with huge potential. Resembles a grand Margaux.

Details
The vines at the Löwengang vineyard were already about 60 years old when Lageder’s grandfather purchased the Löwengang estate and its vineyards in 1934. Today, parts of the vineyard are 145 years old, making it one of the oldest in South Tyrol. Count Melchiori, the owner at the time, planted Carménère, Cabernet franc and Cabernet Sauvignon on the parcels in Margreid around 1875.
Vinification
This wine is a blend of Cabernet franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère. The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo spontaneous fermentation (some with the stalks) in large wooden barrels.
