Details
Centovie: a name that refers to a very special place with beautiful views of the Gran Sasso. This landscape and the optimal conditions for winegrowing so inspired the Bernetti family that they undertook a project aimed at producing «Superwines» in this area. A project requiring dedication, consistency and respect, and a way to make a mark on the wine history of Abruzzo.
Recommendations
A perfect companion to bistecca, wild fowl and aged cheese.
Vinification
The grapes are picked by hand and transported in small crates. The harvest tends to take place in the first half of October, as soon as the grapes have reached perfect phenolic ripeness. Once the grapes have been destemmed and lightly crushed, they are fermented for 12-14 days at 27-29°C in stainless steel containers, which allows all the typical characteristics of this variety to unfold. After fermentation, the maturation process takes place partly in large and partly in small wooden barrels, over a period of 12 to 14 months. Once bottled, the Montepulciano Centovie rests for around six to eight months in a temperature-controlled environment.
