Ornellaia

Letzte Sonnenstrahlen durch den bekannten Pinienbaum inmitten den Rebbergen von Ornellaia in der Toskana

Very few wineries enjoy such a great reputation as the Tenuta Ornellaia in Tuscany.

Ornellaia – a highly prestigious name! The inspiration behind the naming of this beautiful winery in the heart of the Maremma was a tree: the manna ash (orniello in Italian). There, in the southernmost corner of Tuscany, impressive wines mature under the supervision of production director Marco Balsimelli and oenologist Denise Cosentino.

The outstanding quality of its fine wines is in part due to the terroir of Bolgheri – the hills encircle the vineyards like an amphitheatre and protect them from the winds that blow in from the hinterland. At the same time, a great deal of manual labour is required to produce such elegant wines. In Tuscany it is normal to assume 245 working hours per hectare of vines, but Ornellaia demands many times more than this. It is this meticulous approach that makes a difference in the bottle.
