Mastroberardino

Without the Mastroberardino family, many of Campania’s old grape varieties would be extinct today.
Mainstream? This definitely does not describe university professor, poet and painter Piero Mastroberardino, or his flagship estate not far from Naples in the hills of Campania! After all, as a representative of the tenth generation, he is committed to the visions of his ancestors, not least those of his father Antonio. Antonio had steadfastly refused to uproot the precious old grape varieties of the region and replace them with simpler, more productive varieties. Fortunately, Piero Mastroberardino also sticks unwaveringly to tradition and focusses on quality, sustainability and independence instead of quick commercial success.
The red star in his range is the characterful Aglianico, which matures at high altitudes into a deep, sophisticated «Barolo of the South». Also exciting are the white specialities such as Fiano and Greco, which, like other grapes that were already appreciated by the Romans and Greeks, are transformed into complex wines rich in minerality. Wines for those who love something special!
