Eugenio Collavini

Hügelige Landschaft rund um das Weingut von Eugenio Collavini

At their winery, Manlio Collavini and his three sons combine old traditions with innovative technology.

The history of the Collavini winery began in 1896 with its namesake, Eugenio Collavini. He supplied retailers with wines for the noble families of Udine. His son Giovanni steered the winery through the chaos of the two world wars. He then passed the baton on to Manlio Collavini, who blends modern oenology with a nod to the old traditions. As a pioneer in Italy, he fermented Pinot grigio without skins – and thus created a new, fresh, quaffable style of this wine. Collavini is still in family ownership to this day; Manlio’s sons Giovanni, Luigi and Eugenio are all actively involved in the business.

The winery is based in a beautiful country estate dating back to the 16th century. Its fortified tower and historic cellar stand in charming contrast to the consistently progressive facilities of the business. The array of vines includes international varieties such as Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay and Merlot as well as indigenous gems such as Ribolla gialla, Friulano, Pignolo and Refosco dal Peduncolo rosso. A successful symbiosis!
