Ca’ La Bionda

Hauptsitz des Weinguts Ca' La Bionda in Terrakotta Tönen gemalen

The wines from the winemaking Castellani family are some of the best that Veneto has to offer.

In the heart of the historic zone of Valpolicella classico in Veneto, four generations of the Castellani family have been cultivating their grapevines with great respect for tradition, terroir and nature. Brothers Nicola and Alessandro now run the business, but with the continued support of father Pietro. In 2000 they switched the management of the 29 hectares of vines to organic cultivation and have had full organic certification since 2012.

Traditional dry stone walls, which need constant renewal and improvement, support the terraced vineyards on the steep slopes. The only grapes grown here are the indigenous varieties of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara, which are carefully handled (by force of gravity) in the smart new cellar before undergoing spontaneous fermentation through their own naturally occurring yeast. This results in complex, profound wines of wonderful finesse, full of character and with a firm body, juicy acidity and superb length.
