The Provisorium is reminiscent of the Donati and bears our signature, with a time-tested team and the quality you’ve come to expect.

We are renovating for you
And what is happening to the «Chez Donati» restaurant during the long construction period? In cooperation with the historic preservation board, it is being comprehensively and painstakingly renovated down to the last detail, while keeping the original style.
For the transitional period, which will take about two years, we are creating a location on Barfüsser-Platz with an ambience that will bring to mind the original Donati in many respects – with artworks, furnishings, colours and materials that reflect the familiar atmosphere. The food and wine menu will also keep the tradition going.

Located in a prime spot close to Johanniterbrücke, Chez Donati is a veritable institution. It was opened in 1950 by Manilo Donati, and was one of the first Italian restaurants in Basel.
