Update NowBeni di Batasiolo is part of Piedmontese wine history. Founded in 1978 when the Dogliani family acquired the historic Kiola winery in La Morra and combined it with their own «beni» (vineyards), today the company boasts 156 hectares of vines in the topmost locations of Langhe.
The vineyards, planted with great care and a lot of manual labour, are stocked with a wide array of grape varieties, including, naturally, the typical specialities such as Barbera, Dolcetto and Arneis. However, it is Nebbiolo that sets the tone. Or, as Gambero Rosso puts it: «The diamonds in the range are understandably the Nebbiolo reds with their contemporary interpretation», to which he ascribes an «excellent and versatile quality».
The range includes no fewer than five different Baroli. They are made by Oreste Dogliani, the company’s oenologist. He is the nephew of the charismatic company director Fiorenzo Dogliani.
