Tasting notes
Ruby red with violet highlights. On the nose, fresh aromas of raspberries, redcurrants and blueberries combine with sweet suggestions of goji berries and vibrant pomegranate aromas; floral notes complete the bouquet. On the palate it is lively, vertical and energetic. The exceptional freshness is accompanied by excellent minerality and fine, spicy tannins. The finish is very long, lingering and characterised by notes reminiscent of dried fruits.

Details
In the words of the Decanter: “It is the most expressive and the brightest of the three new Gran Selezione and is a dazzling beauty of a wine. What a debut!” San Sano is one of the three new Chianti Classico Gran Selezione single-vineyard wines from Antinori, and was first released in spring 2025. The fattoria is located in Gaiole, at an altitude of 450 metres. The vineyard is planted on ochre-coloured loamy soil on a south-facing slope. The Mediterranean climate, with cold winters and hot, breezy summers, provides ideal conditions.
Recommendations
It pairs very well with braised meat and boldly flavoured sauces. Also a good accompaniment to game dishes of all kinds. Or you can simply enjoy it with a little Parmesan, olive oil and low-salt bread.
Vinification
San Sano Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is produced from Sangiovese grapes harvested by hand. After gentle fermentation in small stainless steel containers, the wine was matured for 11 months in 1,200-litre French oak barrels. It was bottled in June 2023 and aged for at least 24 months to let it develop its full array of aromatics.
