Details
Three components go into making this Pinot grigio speciality: directly pressed grapes are combined with grapes that have undergone 15 hours of skin contact and some that have gone through six to eight months of whole-grape maceration. These components are then combined to form the proper cuvée, which varies with the vintage and makes the wine very distinct.
Recommendations
Wonderful with a white wine risotto and fried scampi. Also pairs well with piquant hard cheeses.
Vinification
Up above the village of Margreid, this Cru grows on stony, sandy and highly calciferous soil. The finished wine Porer is a blend of differently vinified wines. Lageder plays with three different methods of vinification, depending on the vintage and the condition of the grapes. Firstly, the classic method of direct pressing. Secondly, a form of vinification involving brief contact with the skins and longer time on the lees. Thirdly, fermenting and maturing using the whole grape. The maturation takes around nine months. In this way, Lageder creates a complex, multi-layered cuvée from Pinot grigio grapes.
