Dark, rich ruby red. On the nose a magnificent fruit bouquet featuring aromas of sour cherries, damsons, sweet spices, delicate rose petals and a little gingerbread spice. Soft yet distinctive attack on the palate, with silky, round tannins and a delicately creamy mellowness. The aromas of the nose also emerge on the palate. The finish is long-lasting and complex.

Vinification
Only the best Sangiovese grapes (known locally as Brunello) are used for the royal wine of Tuscany – in this case, moreover, only the grapes that grow around the Castello «Poggio alle Mura». The alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and in wood. 90% of the young wine matures for 24 months in French barriques, the remaining 10% in Slavonian oak barrels. This is followed by one year in bottles.
