Dense, almost impenetrable ruby with a strong core. Rich aromas on the nose. Fruity and spicy, with notes of sour cherries, raspberries, mon chéri, herbs, dark rye bread, toast and a hint of vanilla. Mellow and multi-layered. A robust prelude on the palate, the acidity is prominent, lively and perfectly integrated. The sturdy tannins are high quality and ripe, and the aromas of the nose are repeated in the flavours. A strong body with a full texture. Long and persistent finish.

Vinification
The grapes for this pure Merlot come from the best vineyards of the winery between Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci. Guado al Tasso discovered the potential of the grape variety for this location a long time ago and experimented with it. But it was not until the 2011 vintage that bottling from 100% Merlot was legally permitted. After the strictly selective manual harvest, the grapes are carefully pressed. Fermentation takes place in French barriques, of which 30% are new. After the first eight months of ageing in barrels, the lots are blended and put back in barrels for another four months of ageing. After bottling, the finished wine is stored in the winery for an additional six months before it goes on sale.
