Tasting notes
Dark, dense ruby. The powerful and sumptuous bouquet is reminiscent of stewed black fruits. Some leather, warm spices such as black pepper and cloves, also some vanilla. A very soft prelude on the palate, pronounced, intense dried fruit flavours and earthy and balsamic nuances. The whole flavour package is rounded off with nuances of sweet spice. An almost endless finale with ingenious harmonisation. A great wine. Only around 14,000 bottles are produced each year.

Details
This lavish Amarone is of impressive sophistication and finesse, coming from a vineyard whose merits were already known in the twelfth century.
Recommendations
Recommended with superior meat dishes, but also with mature cheeses.
Vinification
After harvest, the grapes are laid out in wooden crates and left to dry. The grapes are not pressed until January. The must is then fermented for 50 days in Slavonian oak barrels. Then 80% of the young wine is matured for 20 to 30 months in large 600-litre barrels and 20% in new Allier barriques. The wine matures in the bottle for a further six to twelve months. Campolongo is made with more Rondinella (25%) than the classic Amarone from Masi.
