The wine grows on volcanic soil, the terroir of which is reflected in the wine with great vigour. Already very expressive and multi-layered on the nose. Ripe, intense cherry notes, black fruit, underlaid with slightly rustic tones of tar, wood and mocha. Very well and tightly structured on the palate. A powerful wine that shows a lot of authenticity. Long and full-bodied finish.

Details
The volcanic terroir of Basilicata is reflected with great vigour in Azienda Basilisco’s showpiece: intense cherry notes on the nose, underpinned by slightly rustic tones of tar, wood and mocha. Very well and tightly structured on the palate.
Recommendations
Requires hearty dishes such as ossobuco or spicy lasagne al forno.
Vinification
The indigenous grape variety Aglianico is used to make the characteristic wine of this region. The harvest is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine then matures for 20 months in large oak barrels and a further eight months in the bottle.
